SHEAR TEST EQUIPMENT DESIGN IN NATURAL FIBER COMPOSITE MATERIALS WITH REGARD repeatability ASPECTS OF TESTING

Shear strength is one of the important mechanical properties of natural fiber composites. The nature of the information is very useful for research in this area. To measure the mechanical properties of this particular device must be designed taking into account the characteristics of natural fiber composites as a specimen. This study focused on the design aspects of the repeatability of test results.
Shear test methods tailored to the ASTM-D5379-98. Shear test specimens of standard geometry measuring 76mm x 20mm x 12mm (P x L x T) and there are notches 90o (V-notch) in the middle of the specimen with a depth of 4mm are combined according to the needs of Quality Control Laboratory (LSK) March Eleven University of Surakarta , this standard will be a reference to develop the design of shear test equipment. In the final stages of design, performance repeatability test equipment measured using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for specimens of medium density fiberboard (MDF).
The results of this study is modular shear test equipment for the natural fiber composite shear testing using a hydraulic power pack power as the prime mover. Clamping the specimen is specifically designed for natural fiber composites are generally fragile and brittle. ANOVA test showed the device was assessed both in terms of aspects of the repeatability of test results with accuracy below 5%.

Based on the above TA contents, can be picked up information on the results of shear tests on natural fiber composite material according to ASTM standard D5379-98. The test results through ANOVA test showed that the repeatability of test results information has accuracy below 5%.
Development of TA can be done by the use of variations in the specimen notch angle (not just a notch 900). In addition, the shape of the notch of the V-notch can be varied with the other forms, such as the U-shape, double V-notch, and so forth. Development of tools to be much better if the tool can also display data drawn directly in chart form, complete the information value of the data record.
