Title:

HANDTRUCK DESIGN WORK AS A TOOL IN THE LABOR MARKET BIG haul SURAKARTA

Abstract:
Unnatural working posture in manual material handling activities are affected by the mismatch between employment facilities to its use, so the impact on work accidents, especially the working posture and work load. It is this factor that occurs in the activity of transport workers' unions in Pasar Gede Surakarta. On actual conditions, especially the manual material handling activities by workers in Pasar Gede transport workers on average 55 kg without using the tools of the appointment. According to the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission which recommended the appointment of the normal range of 34-50 kg without using tools, lifting over 50 kg is recommended to use the tool (Suhardi et al, 2008).
In this study, several steps will be done using different methods. Phase First Instance nordic questionnaires body map, used to identify the causes of musculoskeletal complaints. The second stage of the calculation methods of working posture Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA). The third stage of labor physiology calculations using the energy expenditure and energy cost objective to determine the level of workload and calculate the energy expended by the worker. The fourth stage of work on designing a tool to use anthropometric methods to determine the dimensions of work handtruck designed and obtain results in ergonomic design.
Handtruck design as a tool of work has been tested against 24 labor unions of transport workers' sample. The trial results according to the calculation method of REBA, a decline in the level of risk of musculoskeletal injury. This can be evidenced on the activity of loading and transport, down to the level of risk 2 (moderate). For unloading activity, dropped to the level of risk 2 (moderate). According to calculations by the method of work physiology energy expenditure decreased levels of workload. This is evidenced sixteen respondents classified as light work category, eight respondents classified as moderate work. Handtruck design as a tool for working ergonomically designed handle with the addition of facilities and the use of three wheels wheels to accommodate the needs of transport workers' unions.

Fill in Management Information Systems related courses:

Based on the above TA content, it can be information about the causes of musculoskeletal complaints. Information about it can be seen on the results of analyzes using the nordic body map. In addition, the TA was delivered by processing information about the risk level of work postures REBA method. Information on the rate of decline in the risk level loading-unloading of each reduced by one level. In addition, communicated information about the energy needs of workers to perform their activities. The data obtained through the calculation of energy expenditure, then the results can be compared with each other through the stu energy cost calculations.
The development of TA can be done by designing products specifically for women workers. Of course the data is the data used anthropometric women. Leih then to determine the level of the design needs a tool that is really needed, can use methods of Quality Function Deployment (QFD).
